Bhubaneswar, May 28 : The much-anticipated nationwide campaign, Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, is set to be launched on May 29 from the sacred city of Puri, Odisha. This ambitious 15-day initiative is jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and the Ministry of Rural Development, with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan officially inaugurating the campaign.
The campaign aims to promote modern agricultural practices and technologies among farmers across India, spanning nearly 20 states. Following the launch in Odisha, Minister Chouhan will visit states including Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh. His engagements will continue until June 12.
The initiative focuses on educating farmers about region-specific modern farming technologies for major Kharif crops and increasing awareness about beneficial government schemes and policies. It also aims to promote the use of Soil Health Cards for effective crop planning and balanced fertilizer application. Additionally, the campaign will gather valuable feedback from farmers to guide future agricultural research and innovation.
Organized in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), state governments, and local agricultural bodies, the campaign will reach more than 700 districts nationwide. During the 15-day period, scientific teams will visit villages, directly interacting with farmers to provide hands-on guidance and support.
All 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), 113 ICAR institutes, and state-level officials from agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, and fisheries departments will participate. The campaign also engages progressive farmers and other stakeholders in the agricultural ecosystem.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to connect with approximately 1.5 crore farmers across the country, bringing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Lab to Land” into practical action. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the campaign as a crucial step toward advancing modern agriculture and achieving the broader goal of a Viksit Bharat 2047.
