Monsoon Triggers Heavy Rain In Odisha

Heavy Rains Likely in Odisha Over Next 3 Days as Monsoon Covers Entire State

Odisha is expected to experience heavy rainfall over the next three days as the southwest monsoon has now fully covered the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

According to officials, the early onset of the monsoon — which began on May 28, nearly two weeks ahead of schedule — and the formation of a low-pressure area nearby are likely to intensify rainfall activity across many regions of the state.

“The southwest monsoon has further advanced and today it covered the remaining parts of Odisha. The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through Deesa, Indore, Panchmarhi, Mandla, Ambikapur, Hazaribagh, and Supaul,” the IMD stated.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for several districts, predicting isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Farmers and residents have been advised to take necessary precautions, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Authorities are on alert, and district administrations have been directed to be prepared for any weather-related emergencies. The early monsoon is expected to benefit agricultural activities but may also pose challenges if rainfall becomes excessive.
