Mansukh Mandaviya Appointed as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in Modi 3.0 Government

New Delhi – Mansukh Mandaviya, previously the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, has been appointed as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third-term cabinet. Mandaviya will also hold the position of Union Minister of Labour and Employment, succeeding Anurag Thakur in the Youth Affairs and Sports portfolio.

Mandaviya took his oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, marking his new roles in the Modi 3.0 government. His tenure as the Health Minister began in 2021 when he replaced Dr. Harsh Vardhan, who managed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Earth Sciences from 2019.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Mandaviya secured a decisive victory from the Porbandar constituency in Gujarat, defeating Indian National Congress candidate Lalit Vasoya by a margin of 3,83,360 votes. The Porbandar seat, one of Gujarat’s 26 parliamentary constituencies, witnessed a strong contest, with Mandaviya emerging victorious and reinforcing his political influence.

Before his tenure in the Rajya Sabha, Mandaviya served as an MLA from the Palitana assembly seat in Bhavnagar, beginning his political journey in 2002. His victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls saw him defeating Lalit Vasoya by a margin of 2,29,823 votes, following a previous win by BJP’s Rameshbhai Lavjibhai Dhaduk. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Radadiya Vithalbhai Hansrajbhai defeated NCP’s Jadeja Kandhalbhai Saramanbhai by 2,67,971 votes, showcasing the BJP’s stronghold in the region.

Mandaviya’s new roles as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, alongside Labour and Employment, are expected to bring significant contributions to these sectors, leveraging his extensive experience and dedication to public service.
