Low Pressure May Bring Odisha Rain

Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal Likely to Bring Rains in Odisha from April 9

Bhubaneswar: A Low-Pressure Area (LOPAR) has formed over the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal, meteorological sources confirmed on Monday. The system has developed under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure system is expected to move northwestwards over the southwest Bay of Bengal until April 8. Following this, it is likely to track nearly northwards over the west-central Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.

As a result of this developing weather system, light rain or thundershowers are likely to affect several districts in Odisha starting April 9. The affected districts include Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur, the IMD reported.

In view of the expected weather conditions, the IMD has issued Yellow Warnings for the aforementioned districts, urging residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

The state government and district administrations have also been advised to remain vigilant and prepared for any weather-related eventualities.
