Kia Launches Locally Made Clavis EV

Kia Launches First Locally Made EV in India, Carens Clavis Rolls Out from Andhra Plant

Kia India on Tuesday took a major step in localising its electric vehicle (EV) offerings with the launch of the Carens Clavis EV, the company’s first India-produced electric model.

The new EV will be manufactured at Kia’s state-of-the-art facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the Indian market and to sustainable mobility solutions.

With this launch, Kia has expanded its EV lineup in India, which already includes the EV6 and EV9, both of which are premium models imported into the country. The Carens Clavis EV marks a strategic shift toward more accessible and locally manufactured electric vehicles.

In a statement, Kia India said the Carens Clavis EV will cater to evolving customer preferences and the growing demand for affordable electric mobility in the country. The move is seen as a significant push towards localisation, reducing reliance on imports, and enhancing affordability for Indian buyers.

The launch also aligns with the Indian government’s vision of promoting domestic EV manufacturing and strengthening the country’s position as a global EV hub.

More details regarding the Carens Clavis EV’s pricing, range, and specifications are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
