Kanika Siwach Excited for Hero Hockey India League with Odisha Warriors
Rising star Kanika Siwach, after a remarkable performance in the recent Women’s Junior Asia Cup, is ready to take the next step in her career as she gears up to play for Odisha Warriors in the inaugural Women’s Hero Hockey India League (HIL).
Kanika, who finished as the second top scorer for India and fourth overall in the Junior Asia Cup with eight goals in eight games, sees this transition as a significant opportunity for growth and development. Speaking about her journey, she said, “The Junior Asia Cup was a huge confidence booster. The experience I gained there will be invaluable as I prepare for this next challenge in the Hero Hockey India League.”
The 19-year-old forward expressed excitement about joining Odisha Warriors and playing alongside experienced players. “I feel fortunate to be part of a team like Odisha Warriors, which has incredible players and coaches. I’m ready to give my best and take full advantage of this opportunity to showcase what we, as women players, are capable of,” Kanika added.
Kanika emphasized the importance of teamwork, highlighting that scoring in hockey is always a collaborative effort. “Trusting my teammates and working together will be key to continuing my scoring streak in the Hero HIL,” she said.
With a focus on mental toughness and adaptability, Kanika is prepared to embrace the fast-paced nature of the league. “Our Junior Asia Cup win gave us confidence and taught us a lot about mental toughness. I’m ready to carry that energy into the Hero HIL and make the most of it,” she remarked.
Her goal for the league is to improve continuously and learn from top international players. “Every day is a learning process. My goal is to become a better player and apply everything I’ve learned on the field,” Kanika stated.
