Indian Traders Urge Resumption of Border Trade via Lipulekh Pass with China

Indian traders engaged in border trade with China through the Lipulekh pass in Pithoragarh district since 1992 have appealed to the central government to address the issue of reopening border trade via this route with Beijing.

The trade route abruptly closed after the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019, compelling Indian traders to depart from the Taklakot mart in Tibet, leaving behind their woolen products.

Despite five years passing, the route remains closed, lamented an organization of border traders in Dharchula.
