India Ranks Third In Global AI

India ranks third in Stanford Global AI Vibrancy Index, outpaces advanced economies

India has secured the third position in Stanford University’s 2025 Global AI Vibrancy tool, marking a significant leap in the country’s progress across key artificial intelligence indicators.

According to the report released in November, India climbed four places from its seventh rank in 2023 to third in 2024, overtaking advanced economies such as the United Kingdom and leading Asian nations including South Korea, Singapore, and Japan.

The Global AI Vibrancy tool assesses countries across seven pillars, including research and development, talent, infrastructure, and overall ecosystem growth. In the 2024 Global Vibrancy Index, India recorded a score of 21.59, placing it behind only the top two global performers.

South Korea ranked fourth with a score of 17.24, followed by the United Kingdom at fifth position with 16.64. While the UK improved marginally, moving up one spot from sixth to fifth, India emerged as the biggest gainer among major economies.

The sharp rise highlights India’s accelerating AI ecosystem, driven by increased research output, a growing talent pool, expanding digital infrastructure, and stronger adoption of AI across sectors. The ranking underscores India’s emergence as a key global hub for artificial intelligence innovation and development.
