The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is set to conduct a study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of two drugs, Metformin and Inositol, in treating Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and improving fertility and birth outcomes among affected women.

PCOS is a common endocrine disorder that affects many women of reproductive age and can lead to various health complications, including infertility. Experts have recommended Metformin and Inositol as potential treatments to enhance fertility and promote better reproductive health in women suffering from this condition.

To initiate the research, the ICMR has issued an expression of interest (EOI) for a multi-centric randomized controlled trial. The trial will focus on comparing the efficacy of Metformin and Inositol in improving fertility rates and birth outcomes among women diagnosed with PCOS.
