Hockey India hires Dr Calder for training

India Men’s Hockey Team Brings in Dr. Sherylle Calder to Sharpen Hand-Eye Coordination
In an effort to enhance players’ hand-eye coordination ahead of next year’s Asian Games, Hockey India has appointed renowned South African visual-performance expert Dr. Sherylle Calder to work with the national men’s team, chief coach Craig Fulton confirmed on Friday.
Dr. Calder, a specialist in hand-eye, foot and body coordination, is regarded as one of the world’s leading performance-vision trainers. Over the years, she has worked with top global athletes, helping them sharpen reaction speed, visual processing, and on-field precision.
Her signature EyeGym programmes have been credited with improving the performance of champions such as golfer Ernie Els and Mercedes Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas.
Fulton said Calder will be associated with the team until the Asian Games, with her training modules expected to provide players a competitive edge in fast-paced match situations.
Hockey India’s move is seen as part of a broader strategy to integrate advanced sports science and specialised skill development into the national team’s preparation cycle.
