Governor Urges CUTM Graduates Toward Entrepreneurship

Odisha Governor Urges CUTM Graduates to Become Innovators and Job Creators

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Saturday exhorted graduating students of the Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) to embrace entrepreneurship and transform themselves into job creators rather than job seekers.

Addressing the university’s 13th Convocation in Bhubaneswar, the Governor said entrepreneurship is not just about launching a business but cultivating a mindset rooted in initiative, problem-solving, and the ability to apply learning to real-world challenges. He praised CUTM’s education model, emphasising that the university’s practice-based approach equips students with the confidence to pursue innovative and unconventional career paths.

Kambhampati urged students aiming to become entrepreneurs to stay informed about government policies, study emerging opportunities, and shape solutions that meet societal needs. “Every requirement of society presents an entrepreneurial opportunity. Identify it and strive to become an entrepreneur,” he said.

During the ceremony, honorary doctorates were awarded to Dr. V. Narayan, Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO, and Dr. B.K. Das, Director General (ECS) of DRDO. The Governor also encouraged these premier institutions to prepare detailed documents outlining entrepreneurial prospects in their respective sectors—including project costs, land and water requirements, available technologies, and other essential inputs—to be shared widely with students across the State.

Applauding CUTM’s role in inclusive, skill-integrated education, Kambhampati highlighted the university’s contributions to empowering students from tribal and remote regions. He praised the institution’s multidisciplinary strength across engineering, agriculture, health sciences, and maritime studies, noting that its hands-on learning ecosystem fosters livelihood creation and social development.

He also commended CUTM’s growing international partnerships, particularly with universities in Australia, which he said contribute to enhanced research, training, and cross-cultural learning.

“Education in India is not just for personal growth but for the collective good,” the Governor said, urging graduates to ensure their work—whether in innovation, livelihood development, or nation-building—uplifts society and benefits those around them.
