Google-Backed Fund Awards Grants to Four Indian Organizations for AI-Driven Climate Solutions

In a move to accelerate climate action and technological innovation, Google.org has announced its latest round of grants under the APAC Sustainability Seed Fund 2.0. Out of 14 recipients selected across the Asia-Pacific region, four organizations from India have been honored with funding to support their AI-driven environmental initiatives.

The APAC Sustainability Seed Fund 2.0, backed by a generous USD 5 million grant from Google.org, is designed to foster technology and AI-based solutions to tackle pressing environmental and social challenges. The fund is managed by the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), which aims to drive impactful change through strategic philanthropy and investment.

The Indian recipients of this prestigious grant include:

  1. INREM Foundation: Known for its innovative work in sustainable land and water management, INREM Foundation is leveraging AI to improve agricultural practices and enhance water resource management.
  2. CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF): CRDF is focusing on smart urban planning and climate-resilient infrastructure, utilizing AI to create data-driven solutions for sustainable urban development.
  3. Institute for Financial Management and Research (WELL Labs): WELL Labs is applying AI to financial models that promote sustainable investments and support climate-friendly business practices.
  4. Gujarat Mahila Housing Sewa Trust (MHT): MHT is working on integrating AI with community-based approaches to improve housing solutions for women and marginalized groups, enhancing resilience against climate change.

The selected organizations will receive financial support and strategic guidance to advance their projects, which range from enhancing agricultural sustainability to developing smart infrastructure and promoting climate-resilient housing. This initiative aligns with Google.org’s broader commitment to leveraging technology for social good and environmental sustainability.

“Addressing climate change requires innovative solutions and collaborative efforts,” said a Google.org spokesperson. “We are excited to support these visionary organizations in India, whose projects exemplify the transformative potential of AI in creating a more sustainable future.”

The APAC Sustainability Seed Fund 2.0 reflects a growing trend of tech companies investing in climate solutions and underscores the importance of cross-sector partnerships in driving meaningful environmental impact. As these Indian organizations move forward with their projects, they will contribute significantly to both local and global sustainability goals.
