ECI Hosts 75 International Visitors to Witness Indian Elections

Election Commission of India (ECI) continues its tradition of electoral integrity and transparency by inviting 75 international delegates from 23 countries to witness the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024. This Election Visitors’ Programme (IEVP) aims to showcase India’s democratic excellence to global Election Management Bodies (EMBs).

Representatives from countries including Bhutan, Mongolia, Australia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Namibia, among others, will participate in the program. Additionally, members from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and media teams from Bhutan and Israel will also join.

The IEVP, commencing on May 4th, seeks to familiarize foreign EMBs with India’s electoral system and best practices. Chief Election Commissioner Shri Rajiv Kumar, along with Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, will address the delegates on May 5th, 2024. Subsequently, delegates will visit six states—Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh—to observe polls and preparedness in various constituencies.

This initiative underscores India’s commitment to promoting international cooperation and sharing democratic ideals. The program is expected to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen ties among global Election Management Bodies.
