Government Organizes ‘Workshop on e-Jagriti Platform’ to Enhance Consumer Dispute Resolution
The Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with the State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, UT of Chandigarh, organized a ‘Workshop on e-Jagriti Platform’ at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Sarangpur, Chandigarh. The workshop aimed to provide hands-on training to key stakeholders on the e-Jagriti portal, a revolutionary platform designed to streamline consumer dispute resolution through digital integration.
E-Jagriti: A Game-Changer in Consumer Grievance Redressal
Delivering the keynote address, Shri Bharat Khera, Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, highlighted the transformative impact of the e-Jagriti portal in ensuring a fully digital, efficient, and accessible consumer grievance redressal mechanism. He emphasized that the initiative reduces human intervention, eliminates geographical barriers, and significantly strengthens consumer protection in India.
Shri Anupam Mishra, Joint Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, explained that the e-Jagriti platform integrates e-Daakhil, Confonet, and OCMS into a single system, providing simplified access for consumers, commission officials, judges, advocates, industry experts, and mediators. He thanked the Chandigarh Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission and NMIMS for successfully organizing the workshop.
Judicial Experts Laud the Impact of E-Jagriti
Justice Raj Shekhar Attri, President of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, UT Chandigarh, praised the initiative, stating that technology has significantly improved efficiency in legal proceedings. He highlighted that the platform’s features, including AI tools and video conferencing, would ensure speedy case disposal and better accessibility for consumers in remote areas.
Shri Shravan Kumar Nune, Member of the District Consumer Commission, Leh, shared his experience on how e-Daakhil (now e-Jagriti) has already made a difference in remote areas like Ladakh. He recalled that on the very day of its launch in Leh, a case was successfully registered online, showcasing the potential of technology in bridging the accessibility gap.
Ms. Monika Thatai, Advocate at Chandigarh High Court, appreciated the user-friendly features of e-Jagriti and provided valuable suggestions for further improvements.
Training Sessions and Interactive Demonstrations
The workshop featured a detailed presentation by Shri G. Mayil Muthu Kumaran, Deputy Director General, National Informatics Centre (NIC), who demonstrated:
- User onboarding and filing of consumer complaints
- Role-based access modules for different stakeholders
- Case monitoring, virtual courtroom hearings, and cause list generation
Stakeholders, including State and District Consumer Commission members from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, and Ladakh, participated in hands-on training sessions. Participants were divided into groups and provided live demonstrations on key portal functionalities such as:

✅ AI-powered smart search for archived cases
✅ Voice-to-text conversion of judgments using AI/ML
✅ Integration with virtual courts for faster dispute resolution
E-Jagriti: A Step Toward Digital Justice
The e-Jagriti platform aims to modernize consumer dispute resolution by incorporating:
- Online case filing & fee payment
- AI-powered case history tracking
- Remote hearings through virtual court integration
- Enhanced transparency and accessibility for consumers
Government’s Commitment to Consumer Protection
The workshop marked the first in a series of state-level training sessions, as part of the broader government initiative to digitize consumer grievance mechanisms.
