Congress Leader Criticizes NTA Over Conducting Multiple Exams with Few Employees
Congress leader Ajoy Kumar has raised concerns over the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducting over two dozen exams while allegedly having less than 25 permanent employees. Kumar, who serves as the Congress in-charge for Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, criticized the Centre following the alleged paper leak in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam.
In his statement, Kumar accused the Centre of jeopardizing competitive examinations by entrusting them to NTA, which reportedly lacks adequate internal expertise. He highlighted that NTA relies on around a dozen employees on deputation from various departments and hires some contractual staff.
“Due to the shortage of internal experts, NTA has outsourced critical tasks such as paper setting, paper distribution, and data security protocols to private technical service providers and external experts,” Kumar claimed.
The controversy arose amidst allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG exam, prompting scrutiny of NTA’s operational capacity and security measures. Critics argue that such incidents undermine the integrity of competitive exams and call for stringent oversight to prevent future breaches.
NTA, responsible for conducting various national-level exams including NEET-UG, JEE Main, and others, plays a pivotal role in India’s education system. The organization’s handling of examinations and adherence to security protocols remain subjects of ongoing scrutiny and debate.
The Congress leader’s remarks underscore broader concerns regarding the governance and accountability of agencies entrusted with critical educational assessments. As discussions continue, stakeholders advocate for measures to strengthen transparency and ensure the credibility of examination processes in the country.
