Australia Bowl Out India Despite Fifties

India were bowled out for 214 in the first women’s ODI against Australia on Tuesday, despite impressive half-centuries from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Smriti Mandhana.

The Indian batting lineup struggled to build momentum after a steady start, with contributions from Mandhana and Harmanpreet being the only significant resistance. India’s total of 214 proved insufficient against a disciplined Australian bowling attack.

Spinner Ashleigh Gardner was the standout performer for the hosts, finishing with figures of 3/33 in seven overs. Her spin bowling consistently troubled the Indian batters, restricting their scoring opportunities and triggering key dismissals.

Australia made late adjustments to their squad after injuries to key players Kim Garth and Ellyse Perry ruled them out of the three-match series. Pacers Megan Schutt and Lucy Hamilton were called up at the last moment to bolster the attack.

India will need to regroup and strengthen their batting performance if they hope to challenge Australia in the remaining ODIs of the series.
