Odisha Police Arrest Andhra Man for Rs 46 Lakh Fraud
Odisha Police on Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh for allegedly defrauding a Hyderabad-based company of Rs 46 lakh in Ganjam district.
The accused has been identified as Satyanarayana Seela alias Shiva, a resident of Gudivada in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. He was serving as the Ganjam district head of a firm that had been awarded the contract for generating Aadhaar cards in the district.
According to police, the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the company, which alleged financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds. Acting on the complaint, a police team nabbed the accused from his rented accommodation in Tulasi Nagar under the Berhampur Town police station limits.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly siphoned off funds amounting to Rs 46 lakh during the execution of the Aadhaar enrolment project. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the modus operandi and whether others were involved in the alleged fraud.
The accused has been taken into custody and will be produced before a court, officials added.
