Union Home Minister Amit Shah Honors BSF Bravery, Highlights Success of Operation Sindoor

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah attended the Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremony and Rustamji Memorial Lecture in New Delhi as the Chief Guest. The event saw the presence of senior officials, including the Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, and BSF Director General.

In his keynote address, Shri Amit Shah lauded the BSF’s remarkable journey since its inception in 1965, evolving into the world’s largest and most prestigious border security force. He praised the dedication and patriotism of BSF personnel who guard India’s challenging borders under extreme conditions, calling the force the first line of defence for the nation.

Remembering Shri K.F. Rustamji, the first Director General of BSF, Shri Shah highlighted the force’s vital role in the 1971 war and the creation of Bangladesh. He emphasized the BSF’s continued excellence in internal security, disaster response, and anti-terrorism operations.

Shri Shah paid special tribute to Operation Sindoor, calling it the most precise and successful response to terrorist attacks on Indian soil. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm political will, intelligence inputs, and the armed forces’ striking capabilities for its success. The operation effectively dismantled nine terrorist bases in Pakistan, exposing Pakistan’s direct sponsorship of terrorism and the deep ties between terrorism and Pakistan.

Shri Shah also recounted India’s decisive military responses following terrorist attacks such as the Uri surgical strikes and Pulwama air strikes, underscoring the Indian forces’ restraint and precision. He noted the Indian Army’s destruction of Pakistani airbases in retaliation to attacks on civilians and military installations, demonstrating India’s lethal defence capabilities.

Honoring the bravery of BSF personnel Mohammad Imtiyaz Ahmad and Deepak Chingakham, who sacrificed their lives during Operation Sindoor, Shri Shah said their names will be forever etched in India’s defence history.

The Home Minister highlighted BSF’s role in securing over 15,000 kilometers of difficult borders, adopting cutting-edge technology and homegrown innovations for enhanced border security. He acknowledged the force’s outstanding gallantry awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Shaurya Chakras, reflecting their valor and dedication.

Concluding his address, Shri Shah reaffirmed the Narendra Modi government’s unwavering support for BSF personnel, emphasizing the nation’s trust and pride in the force’s exceptional service.
