Odisha Enforces Fire Safety Norms for School Buses

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has directed regional transport officers (RTOs) to enforce stringent fire safety measures for school buses. Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur issued a circular on Sunday outlining the new regulations, which aim to enhance student safety.

The circular mandates that all school buses must be equipped with advanced fire safety systems, including a Fire Detection Alarm System (FDAS), Fire Detection Suppression System (FDSS), and Fire Alarm Protection System (FAPS). These measures are designed to prevent and manage fire incidents effectively, ensuring the safety of students during their journey.

The move comes as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to bolster safety standards in school transportation and provide a secure environment for students.
