Tata Power Invests Over Rs 4,200 Crore in Odisha’s Network Expansion and Upgrade

Tata Power-led power distribution companies (Discoms) have made a significant investment of Rs 4,245 crore in the infrastructure expansion and network upgrade in Odisha over the past 3-4 years. This major development was announced by the company on Friday.
Operating through four Discoms in joint ventures with the government of Odisha – TP Central Odisha Distribution (TPCODL), TP Western Odisha Distribution (TPWODL), TP Southern Odisha Distribution (TPSODL), and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) – Tata Power serves a customer base of over 9 million in the state.
Out of the total investment, Rs 1,232 crore has been allocated through various government-backed schemes. These investments have facilitated the laying of 2,177 circuit kilometres (Ckms) of 33 kilovolt (KV) lines and 19,809 Ckms of 11 KV lines. Additionally, 30,230 distribution transformers have been added to the network, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the power distribution system across both rural and urban areas.
The substantial investment underscores Tata Power’s commitment to improving the power infrastructure in Odisha, ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply to millions of customers. The upgraded network aims to support the region’s growing energy demands and contribute to its overall economic development.
This initiative aligns with Tata Power’s broader vision of driving sustainable development through robust infrastructure, innovative solutions, and customer-centric approaches. By strengthening the power distribution network, Tata Power continues to play a pivotal role in Odisha’s progress towards a more electrified and prosperous future.
