Odisha’s Tribal Leader Jual Oram Joins Union Cabinet

Veteran BJP leader Jual Oram, a prominent figure in tribal leadership in Odisha, has been inducted into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 3.0 government as a central minister. The 63-year-old leader from Sundargarh district has a distinguished career, including the distinction of being the country’s first tribal affairs minister under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, established by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Oram’s extensive political experience spans roles as both an MLA and an MP, with notable electoral successes. He won consecutive terms from the tribal-dominated Bonai assembly constituency in 1990 and 1995, solidifying his reputation as a dedicated and influential leader.

His inclusion in the Union Cabinet underscores the government’s commitment to representing tribal communities and leveraging Oram’s vast experience for national development.
