Karnataka’s Doni River Surges Above Danger Level

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a special advisory for the Doni river at the Talikot HO site in Bijapur (Muddebihal taluk), as it is currently flowing above the danger level.

According to reports from the Central Water Commission, the current water level stands at 501.48 meters, with a rising trend of about 7 centimeters per hour. The highest flood level ever recorded at this site is 502.21 meters.

In light of this situation, the India Meteorological Department has issued an extreme rainfall alert for the next 72 to 84 hours across the Krishna Catchment areas in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.

Authorities urge residents in the affected regions to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall and rising river levels may pose risks of flooding and other hazards.
