DARPG Secretary Presents CPGRAMS Innovations to US Government and IBM Stakeholders

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) of India showcased its advanced public grievance redressal system, CPGRAMS, to representatives of the US Government and key stakeholders during a meeting convened by the IBM Center for The Business of Government in Washington, DC. The presentation highlighted India’s innovative use of AI and data analytics in governance and received commendations from US officials.

The 90-minute virtual session, held on 3 June 2024, focused on the adoption of AI in governance. Attendees included prominent US officials such as Mr. James-Christian Blockwood, Executive Vice-President of the Partnership for Public Service; Mr. Dan Chenok, Executive Director of the IBM Center for the Business of Government; Ms. Terry Gerton, President and CEO of the National Academy of Public Administration; Mr. Ivan Metzer, Director of Performance Management Line of Business (US Performance Reporting), General Services Administration; and Mr. Alexander Snider, Performance Management Strategy Lead, General Services Administration. Indian representatives included Prof. Prajapati Trivedi and Prof. Avanish from the Commonwealth Hub for the Business of Government, alongside key officials from the Government of India led by DARPG Secretary Shri V. Srinivas.

Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary of DARPG, presented the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), detailing its transformative impact on public grievance redressal in India. The session, conducted by Mr. Dan Chenok, facilitated a productive exchange of ideas and best practices.

Key Highlights of the Presentation:

  • Technological Empowerment: Emphasis on the role of technology in bridging the gap between citizens and government, enhancing transparency and accountability.
  • Reforms and Impact: The implementation of CPGRAMS’ 10-step reforms has significantly improved grievance redressal quality and reduced resolution timelines.
  • Volume and Reach: Over 150,000 grievances are addressed monthly, with 102,000 grievance officers mapped on the CPGRAMS portal.
  • AI and Data Analytics: Introduction of intelligent grievance monitoring and tree dashboards using AI/ML for handling disaggregated data, enabling evidence-based policy making.
  • Future Plans: Government approval of Rs. 128 crore for CPGRAMS version 8.0, featuring an upgraded technology platform to be implemented over the next two years.
