BJD Questions Government After Ambulance Tragedy

BJD Alleges Patient Died After Ambulance Ran Out of Fuel Amid Odisha Fuel Crisis

Bhubaneswar, May 15 : The opposition Biju Janata Dal on Friday alleged that a patient died after the ambulance carrying him reportedly ran out of fuel midway while shifting him from SCB Medical College and Hospital to a private hospital amid the ongoing fuel crisis in Odisha.

In a statement, BJD spokesperson and media coordinator Lenin Mohanty described the incident as “tragic” and claimed that the fuel shortage situation in the state had reached an alarming level.

According to the party, the patient, a resident of Kendrapara district, was being shifted in an emergency ambulance when the vehicle allegedly stopped midway after running out of fuel. The patient subsequently died, the BJD claimed.

Targeting the state government over the alleged incident, Mohanty questioned why Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi should not be held responsible for the death.

The BJD demanded an immediate clarification from the Odisha government regarding the circumstances that led to the alleged incident and sought accountability over the handling of the ongoing fuel crisis.

The incident comes amid reports of fuel shortages and supply disruptions in several parts of Odisha, which have triggered political reactions and concerns over the impact on essential services.

However, there was no immediate response from the state government regarding the allegations made by the opposition party.
