Mild 4.1 tremor jolts Odisha’s Kalahandi

A mild earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale was felt in parts of Kalahandi district on Wednesday evening, officials said.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremor occurred at 7:42 pm, with its epicentre located at a depth of 24 km beneath the Earth’s surface.

The quake was experienced for a few seconds across several areas, including Bhawanipatna, Dharmagada, Junagarh, Koksara and Thuamul Rampur blocks.

There were no immediate reports of damage to property or loss of life.

Officials said the situation is being monitored, while residents reported brief shaking in multiple parts of the district.
