Governor hails Odisha’s special session on women

Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday welcomed the Odisha government’s decision to convene a one-day special Assembly session on April 30 to discuss women’s participation in politics.

The special session aims to deliberate on enhancing women’s role in democratic processes and strengthening their participation in governance and decision-making.

Calling it a “timely and commendable initiative,” the Governor expressed hope for the smooth and successful conduct of the session in a post on social media.

The move comes amid ongoing political debates over women’s reservation in legislatures, with growing calls to ensure greater representation of women in public offices.

The session is expected to focus on policy discussions and measures to promote inclusive political participation and empowerment of women in the state.
