J-K Plans International Film Festival Modeled on IFFI
The Jammu and Kashmir government is gearing up to host a prestigious international film festival on the lines of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in a move aimed at boosting cinema, culture, and tourism in the Union Territory.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, where officials discussed strategies to position Jammu and Kashmir as a vibrant hub for filmmaking and cultural exchange.
According to an official spokesperson, the initiative will be spearheaded by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR). The proposed festival is expected to attract filmmakers, artists, and industry stakeholders from across the globe, showcasing a diverse range of films and fostering creative collaborations.
The government believes the festival will not only revive the region’s cinematic legacy but also provide a significant push to tourism by highlighting Jammu and Kashmir’s scenic locales and cultural richness.
Further details regarding the dates, venue, and participation are expected to be announced in the coming months.
