Odisha unveils Aarohan programme for children

Odisha launches ‘Aarohan’ to boost early childhood education

Bhubaneswar, April 14 : The Odisha government on Tuesday launched an innovative programme, ‘Aarohan’, aimed at strengthening early childhood education and ensuring a smooth academic transition for young learners across the state.

The initiative was unveiled by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida at the ICWS campus in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Maha Bishuba Sankranti and the Odia New Year. Carrying the tagline “Ujwala Bhabisyat Pain Pade Agaku” (A Step Forward Towards a Brighter Future), the programme seeks to lay a strong educational foundation during the crucial early years of a child’s development.

Marking the launch with a cultural touch, Parida applied tikka to children and distributed ‘Aarohan kits’, symbolising new beginnings and encouraging them as they move forward in their educational journey.

The programme, spearheaded by the Department of Women and Child Development, focuses on improving foundational learning and facilitating a seamless transition from Anganwadi centres to Bal Vatika-3 after pre-primary education.

Addressing the gathering, Parida highlighted that the first six years of a child’s life are vital for brain development and learning. She said the initiative aligns with the objectives of Poshan Pakhya 2026, reinforcing the state’s commitment to prioritising early childhood development.

She also stressed that the success of such initiatives depends on collective efforts, urging parents and communities to actively participate in nurturing young minds.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Development Mrunalini Darswal emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among Anganwadi workers and officials to strengthen grassroots systems and ensure holistic development of children.

The launch event saw enthusiastic participation from Anganwadi workers and parents, reflecting strong community support for the initiative.
