PM Modi Pays Tribute to Dandi March Participants
New Delhi, March 12 (UNI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to the leaders and participants of the historic Dandi March, which began on this day in 1930 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi as part of India’s freedom struggle against British rule.
Remembering the historic movement, the Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the victory of truth over falsehood. The verse reads:
“सत्यमेव जयति नानृतं सत्येन पन्था विततो देवयानः।
येनाक्रमन्त्यृषयो ह्याप्तकामा यत्र तत्सत्यस्य परमं निधानम्॥”
The verse conveys that truth always triumphs while falsehood ultimately fades away, and that the path of truth leads to enlightenment and ultimate bliss.
In a post on X, Modi said that the nation remembers with reverence all the great personalities who took part in the historic march that symbolised resistance and the spirit of India’s independence movement.
The Dandi March, launched by Mahatma Gandhi on March 12, 1930, was a landmark act of civil disobedience against the British salt tax and played a crucial role in India’s freedom struggle.
