Priyanka Chaturvedi praises Ranveer’s Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar is new-age cinema, says MP Priyanka Chaturvedi
New Delhi, Dec 22 : Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has praised Ranveer Singh’s latest film ‘Dhurandhar’, describing it as “new-age cinema” that audiences must welcome for its bold and realistic portrayal of complex themes.
Sharing her views on social media platform X, Chaturvedi lauded the performances of Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, while drawing parallels between the impact of Dhurandhar and Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’. She said both films confront uncomfortable realities without resorting to whitewashing.
In a detailed post, Chaturvedi said she rarely visits theatres and had previously watched Pathaan and Chhaava. While Pathaan was watched as a stand against boycott calls, she said her decision to watch Chhaava and Dhurandhar was driven by the powerful themes explored in the films.
She noted that Akshaye Khanna played key roles in both Chhaava and Dhurandhar, portraying characters rooted in a “problematic past” with conviction and nuance. Praising the lead performances, she said both Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh were compelling and deeply committed to the roles they represented.

Calling out all shades of bigotry and hate, Chaturvedi said films like Chhaava and Dhurandhar reflect lived realities. “Blood, gore, and violence are part of reality. Viewing history through rose-tinted glasses leads to layers of whitewashing. It is time we saw reality for what it is,” she wrote.
She also applauded director Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, and Aditya Raj Kaul for their work on the film.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar was released on December 5 and has performed strongly at the box office, breaking multiple records while earning widespread acclaim from audiences and celebrities alike. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan.
