Bay LOPAR to drench South Odisha

LOPAR Over Bay of Bengal Likely to Bring Heavy Rain to South Odisha: CEC
Bhubaneswar, Nov 19 : A low-pressure area forming over the southeast Bay of Bengal on November 22 is expected to intensify into a deep depression or even a cyclonic storm by November 26, according to the SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC).
In its latest bulletin, the CEC said the system is likely to move northwestwards and cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast near Machilipatnam on the night of November 27 or the forenoon of November 28. Although it may weaken before landfall, the system is expected to trigger widespread rainfall across south Odisha between November 26 and 28, with heavy showers likely at several locations.
The bulletin also noted that Odisha’s prevailing cold conditions over the past fortnight are likely to ease as night temperatures begin to rise gradually. The drop in temperature was attributed to strong radiational cooling and persistent north-northwesterly dry winds from northern India.
CEC said wind patterns have now turned erratic, with south-westerly, easterly, or south-easterly flows moving towards Odisha, accompanied by rising humidity in the lower atmosphere.
Foggy conditions are likely during the daytime, with chances of light rain over coastal districts—particularly in southern parts—on November 20 and 21 due to feeble easterly waves, the bulletin added.
