Odisha Will Host Asian Table Tennis Championship


Odisha to Host 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships with 22 Nations Participating

Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 : For the first time, Odisha will host the 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025, with participation from 22 countries and nearly 500 athletes and officials. The event will be held from October 11 to 15 at the Athletics Centre of Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

The prestigious championship is being organized with the support of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), the Odisha Table Tennis Association, and the Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha.

Countries including India, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, DPR Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau-China, Bangladesh, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Uzbekistan will field both men’s and women’s teams. The top-performing teams will secure berths for the ITTF World Table Tennis Team Championships 2026 in London.

Addressing a press conference at Kalinga Stadium, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said, “It is a matter of pride and honour that Odisha is hosting the Asian Table Tennis Team Championships for the very first time. Our department is ensuring world-class infrastructure, hospitality, and security to make this a grand success.”

He further announced that Odisha will simultaneously host the 40th National Junior Athletics Championships (October 10–14) and the ITF Masters 100 Tennis Tournament (October 11–15) in Bhubaneswar. “Hosting three major sporting events at once is a testament to Odisha’s commitment to sports and sportspersons,” he added.

TTFI President Kamlesh Mehta lauded Odisha’s rising status as a global sports hub, expressing confidence in the state’s ability to deliver a world-class championship.

With Asia’s finest paddlers competing for glory, the championship promises to showcase high-octane action while inspiring a new generation of table tennis players in India and beyond.
