Murmu, Modi Extend Greetings on Odisha’s Utkala Dibasa
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha as the state celebrated Utkala Dibasa, marking its foundation day.
Utkala Dibasa, observed annually on April 1, commemorates the formation of Odisha as a separate province in 1936, carved out from parts of Bihar, Bengal, and Madras based on linguistic identity.
President Murmu, who hails from Odisha, highlighted the state’s rich cultural heritage and the contributions of its people across various fields. “It is an occasion to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Odisha and its hardworking, warm, and hospitable people who have preserved their glorious traditions while striving for progress,” she said in her message.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his best wishes, acknowledging Odisha’s historical significance and its role in India’s development. He praised the resilience and dedication of the people in shaping a prosperous future for the state.
