Ryan Williams gets FIFA nod for India

Ryan Williams Gets FIFA Clearance, Now Eligible to Play for Indian Football Team

Forward Ryan Williams is now officially eligible for selection to the Indian national football team after receiving FIFA’s approval for a change in member association, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Bengaluru FC attacker, born in Perth, recently relinquished his Australian citizenship to acquire an Indian passport—fulfilling the final requirement for representing India at the international level.

“FIFA’s Players’ Status Chamber issued its final decision on November 19, 2025, approving the change of association request for Ryan Williams, thereby making him formally eligible to represent the Indian national team,” the AIFF said in a statement.

Williams’ clearance is expected to boost India’s attacking options as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
