Pradhan inaugurates STEM lab for girls in Sambalpur
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday inaugurated STEM labs at three educational institutes in Sambalpur, Odisha, aimed at equipping girl students with skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and preparing them for careers in the aviation sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said the initiative would help students turn their dreams into reality by integrating knowledge with practical applications in science and technology.
The programme, called the ‘Boeing Sukanya Programme’, is designed to encourage greater participation of girls in India’s rapidly growing aviation industry and to provide them with specialized training and skill development opportunities.
He emphasized the importance of promoting STEM education among young women to build a strong, inclusive workforce and highlighted the government’s commitment to creating opportunities for women in non-traditional sectors.
The initiative is expected to empower girls in the region, inspire career aspirations, and contribute to India’s broader goals of skill development and gender equality in emerging industries.
