PM Modi Vows to End Naxalism

PM Modi Reaffirms Commitment to End Naxalism After Major Encounter in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, May 21 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the security forces for a significant anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh that resulted in the elimination of 27 insurgents. He reiterated the central government’s unwavering resolve to root out Naxalism and ensure peace and development across affected regions.

In response to a post by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “We are proud of our forces for this momentous success. Our government is committed to eradicating the menace of Maoism and ensuring a life of peace and progress for the people.”

The encounter, which took place across four districts of Chhattisgarh — including the insurgency-hit Narayanpur — saw heavy exchanges of fire between security personnel and Naxalites. According to police sources, 27 Naxals were killed and several others injured. A soldier also lost his life in the operation, and another was wounded.

Calling the operation a “historic achievement” in the long-standing fight against Left-Wing Extremism, Home Minister Amit Shah praised the bravery and coordination of the security forces. He emphasized that the government remains steadfast in its mission to eliminate Naxalism, setting a target of achieving this by March 31 next year.

The encounter marks one of the largest single-day operations against Naxal insurgents in recent years, signaling intensified counter-insurgency efforts under the Modi-led administration.

Security agencies continue to carry out coordinated operations in the region as part of the government’s larger strategy to dismantle Maoist networks, improve law and order, and usher in development across tribal and backward areas long affected by Naxal violence.
