International Conference on Odisha’s Ties with Southeast Asia to Begin May 24

The Odisha government is set to host a two-day international conference titled ‘Kalinga and Southeast Asia: The Civilisational Connect’ on May 24 and 25. The event aims to highlight the profound historical, maritime, and cultural ties between ancient Kalinga (modern-day Odisha) and the nations of Southeast Asia.

Organized jointly by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department of the Odisha government, the Institute of Media Studies, Utkal University, and the central government, the conference is expected to draw scholars, historians, and dignitaries from across the globe.

A senior government official noted that the conference will showcase Odisha’s rich civilizational heritage and its longstanding connections with Southeast Asia, bringing global focus to the region’s contributions to history and culture.

The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and presentations, fostering greater understanding and collaboration between Odisha and Southeast Asian countries.
