Odisha CM Inaugurates ‘Digital House’ for Paperless Assembly Ahead of Budget Session

In a significant step towards digitization, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Digital House’ under the e-Vidhan Application, making the Odisha Legislative Assembly a paperless institution.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy and Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi. With this initiative, legislators will now use tablets to access documents, reports, and other information during Assembly proceedings, reducing reliance on paper-based records.
Developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC), the ‘Digital House’ is part of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project. The initiative aims to enhance transparency, streamline legislative processes, and promote eco-friendly governance by minimizing paper consumption.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Majhi emphasized that the transition to a digital system will not only improve efficiency but also ensure greater accessibility of legislative information for members. He highlighted the government’s commitment to modernizing governance through technology-driven solutions.
The Odisha Assembly’s adoption of the NeVA project aligns with the broader vision of the central government to digitize legislative institutions across the country. Officials stated that training sessions will be conducted for members and staff to ensure a smooth transition to the digital format.
The implementation of the ‘Digital House’ is expected to set a precedent for other state assemblies, showcasing Odisha’s commitment to embracing digital governance for a more efficient and transparent legislative framework.
