Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) president Kapil Dev on Saturday hailed Pranavi Urs’ historic gold medal in the women’s individual golf event at the Asian Games, saying the achievement reflects the growing strength of women’s golf in India.
The 23-year-old Pranavi secured the individual gold and also played a key role in India’s silver-medal finish in the women’s team competition alongside Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar.
The performance marked India’s best-ever showing in women’s golf at the Asian Games, with the Aichi-Nagoya edition providing a landmark moment for the country’s women golfers.
“Pranavi Urs’ historic gold medal in the women’s individual event and the silver medal won by our women’s team at the Asian Games are moments of immense pride for India and Indian golf,” Kapil Dev said.
He added that the medals reflected the talent, determination and hard work of Indian golfers and highlighted the growing strength of women’s golf in the country.
Pranavi’s individual triumph adds to India’s strong showing in golf at the continental event and underlines the progress being made by Indian women golfers on the international stage.
The gold medal and team silver also provide further recognition to the growing pool of women golfers representing India at major international competitions.
