Odisha Launches E-Detection System for PUCC, Insurance Violations

The Odisha government has launched an e-detection system to identify vehicles plying on roads without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) and insurance, as part of efforts to strengthen enforcement of motor vehicle rules across the state.

According to an official, the new system was activated on September 1 and will enable authorities to electronically detect vehicles that do not have the mandatory documents.

State Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur said that once a vehicle is detected without a valid PUCC or insurance, an e-challan will be generated against it in accordance with the existing rules and electronic enforcement procedure.

The initiative is aimed at improving compliance with mandatory vehicle requirements and making enforcement more efficient through the use of technology.

The e-detection mechanism is expected to help transport authorities monitor vehicles more effectively and take action against violations without relying solely on manual checks.

Officials said the system will support stricter enforcement of road transport regulations and encourage vehicle owners to keep their pollution certificates and insurance documents valid.
