Filmmaker and television host Karan Johar has announced that his popular celebrity chat show “Koffee With Karan” will come to an end with its upcoming ninth season, marking the conclusion of a 22-year journey.
The final season of the show is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on October 14, according to the announcement made by Johar on Wednesday.
Johar launched “Koffee With Karan” in 2004 and has hosted the show across eight seasons and 161 episodes, featuring several prominent personalities from Hindi cinema. The programme became known for its candid celebrity conversations, personal revelations, humour and occasional controversies.
Announcing the show's conclusion, Johar said saying goodbye was emotional and described “Koffee With Karan” as an extraordinary part of his life.
He said the show had given him friendships, memories, moments of madness and love, along with its share of controversy, while highlighting the audience as the constant throughout its journey.
Johar said the ninth season would be his way of raising the signature coffee mug one final time with gratitude.
The upcoming season will therefore mark the final chapter of one of India's longest-running celebrity chat shows, which has remained a prominent part of Hindi entertainment television and streaming over the years.
