India to Host 68th APO Governing Body Meeting in New Delhi
India will host the 68th Session of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Governing Body from May 20 to 22 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, bringing together over 60 senior delegates from 20 APO member economies.
The inaugural session on May 21 will be attended by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. APO Directors, Advisors, representatives of diplomatic missions of member economies and invited delegates are expected to participate in the event.
Observers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bhutan and the Global Green Growth Institute will also attend the three-day meeting, which will focus on strengthening regional cooperation and productivity-led growth.
The session will feature high-level discussions on the APO Vision 2030 framework, the organisation’s preliminary budget for the 2027–28 biennium and proposed reforms in the election procedures for the APO Secretary-General.
Key agenda items include the election of the APO Chair and Vice Chairs for 2026–27, adoption of annual and financial reports, review of institutional reforms and assessment of progress under APO Vision 2030.
During the inaugural session, awards will be presented under the APO National Awards Programme in the categories of Productivity Advocates and Productivity Technical Experts. The awards aim to recognise individuals and institutions promoting productivity and innovation across APO member economies.
The Governing Body is the highest decision-making forum of the APO and meets annually to deliberate on the organisation’s strategic direction, governance, institutional performance and financial planning.
India assumed the chairmanship of the APO Governing Body during the 67th session held in May 2025, with DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia taking over as Chair.
Established in 1961, the Asian Productivity Organization is an intergovernmental body comprising 21 member economies from the Asia-Pacific region. The organisation works towards enhancing productivity and sustainable socioeconomic development through policy dialogue, technical cooperation and knowledge sharing.
Officials said India’s hosting of the 68th APO Governing Body Meeting reflects its commitment to promoting innovation, productivity-led economic growth and sustainable development in the region.
