Congress Urges PM Modi to Announce Special Package for Odisha

The Odisha Congress on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a special financial package for the state, citing the BJP-led central government’s claims of prioritizing Odisha’s development.
Speaking to reporters, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rama Chandra Kadam emphasized that despite the PM’s frequent visits to Odisha, the state is yet to receive a dedicated special package.
“The Prime Minister has visited Odisha four times and is scheduled to visit again on Tuesday. I appeal to him to announce a special package that genuinely benefits the people of the state,” Kadam said.
The demand comes ahead of the ‘Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025’, where the Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the business summit. The Congress has been vocal about the need for more financial assistance, industrial investment, and infrastructure projects to boost Odisha’s economic growth.
With the ruling BJP government highlighting its focus on Odisha’s development, the Congress insists that a concrete economic package would demonstrate real commitment to the state’s progress.
It remains to be seen whether the Centre will respond to the Opposition’s demand during the PM’s visit.
