Bhupender Gupta Gets Three-Month Extension as SJVN CMD

State-run hydropower company SJVN Ltd on Monday announced that Bhupender Gupta will continue to hold the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) for another three months, starting from August 1, 2025.

Gupta, who is also Director (Technical) at THDC India Ltd (THDCIL), was initially appointed to the post on May 1, 2025, for a period of three months or until a full-time CMD was appointed—whichever came earlier.

In a regulatory filing, SJVN said the Ministry of Power has officially extended Gupta’s term through an order dated August 4, 2025. The extension is valid for an additional three months or until a regular CMD is appointed, whichever is earlier.

The company added that Gupta will continue to oversee SJVN’s strategic operations and ongoing projects during this period. His leadership comes at a crucial time as the company is expanding its renewable energy portfolio and strengthening its presence in hydro and solar power sectors.

SJVN is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh and plays a key role in India’s energy infrastructure development.
