Bhubaneswar, Feb 21 : ASSOCHAM has welcomed the Odisha Budget 2026–27, describing it as a progressive and growth-driven blueprint that strikes a balance between fiscal discipline and inclusive development.
Reacting to the Budget presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly on Friday, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Chairman of ASSOCHAM Odisha State Development Council, termed the Rs 3.10 lakh crore outlay as forward-looking and development-oriented.
In a statement issued here, Mohanty said the substantial allocation, with a strong emphasis on capital expenditure and key sectors such as agriculture, rural development, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, underlines the State Government’s commitment to sustained economic expansion while maintaining fiscal prudence.
He also appreciated the continued thrust on sports infrastructure and youth development, noting that the focus has helped position Odisha as a national sports hub. According to him, investments in sports not only nurture talent but also boost tourism, enhance global visibility, and stimulate broader economic activity.
Mohanty further observed that increased attention to irrigation, industrial infrastructure, skill development, healthcare expansion, and women’s empowerment would strengthen grassroots prosperity and enhance investor confidence in the state.
ASSOCHAM expressed confidence that the balanced and future-ready approach of the Budget would accelerate investment, generate employment, and ensure sustainable growth. The industry body also conveyed its willingness to partner with the State Government in translating the Budget allocations into tangible outcomes for Odisha’s economy.
