Odisha Leaders Condole Deaths in Darjeeling Train Collision

Bhubaneswar (June 17, 2024): Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed their deep sorrow over the tragic train accident in West Bengal that claimed the lives of 15 passengers on Monday. The accident involved the Kanchanjungha Express, which collided with a goods train in Darjeeling district.

Governor Das and CM Majhi extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

“The loss of lives in the train accident is deeply saddening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones, and we hope for the quick recovery of those injured,” said Governor Das.

Chief Minister Majhi echoed these sentiments, stating, “We stand in solidarity with the people affected by this tragic incident and are ready to extend any support needed.”

Additionally, BJD president and former chief minister Naveen Patnaik also expressed his grief over the incident, lamenting the loss of lives and injuries sustained by several passengers.

The tragic accident has prompted widespread condolences and support from various quarters, as the nation mourns the loss and prays for the recovery of the injured.
