Police-Maoist Encounter in Odisha’s Nuapada: Jawan Injured
A member of Odisha Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) sustained a bullet injury during a skirmish with Maoists in Nuapada district early Monday morning. The incident took place around 3 am in the Sunabeda forest near Shivanarayanpur, close to the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
According to ADG (Operations) Dev Datta Singh, the SOG personnel engaged in a gunfight with Maoist insurgents, resulting in the injury of one jawan. The injured personnel was swiftly evacuated and transported to Raipur for medical treatment, where his condition is reported to be stable.
“During the exchange of fire, an SOG jawan was shot but is now out of danger,” Singh confirmed. Security forces continue to maintain vigilance in the region following the encounter.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges and risks faced by security personnel in combating Maoist activities along the state border areas, emphasizing the need for sustained efforts to ensure peace and security in affected regions.
