Odisha makes POSH panels mandatory colleges

Odisha Mandates POSH Committees in Colleges
The Odisha government has directed all higher educational institutions across the state to constitute internal committees under the POSH Act, warning that failure to comply could result in loss of recognition.
The Higher Education Department instructed universities, degree colleges, and teacher education institutions to strictly follow provisions of the Women at Workplace Act to ensure a safe environment for women on campuses.
According to the directive, institutions admitting students through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) must have a functional internal committee in place. Non-compliant colleges may be barred from conducting admissions.
The move aims to strengthen mechanisms for prevention, prohibition, and redressal of sexual harassment cases in educational institutions and ensure accountability at all levels.
Officials said strict action will be taken against institutions failing to implement the mandate, underlining the government’s commitment to safeguarding students and staff.
