PM lauds Indian cheesemakers’ global success

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Indian cheesemakers for their impressive performance at the Mundial do Queijo do Brasil 2026, where the country secured four medals, including one Super Gold, two Golds, and one Silver.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s strong debut at the global competition for cheese and dairy products, noting that the achievement reflects the growing international recognition of the country’s artisanal dairy sector.

According to the official statement, the prestigious Super Gold medal was awarded to Eleftheria Gulmarg (Brie Style). Two Gold medals were bagged by Yak Churpi-Soft from Nordic Farm in Leh, Ladakh, and Eleftheria Brunost (Whey Cheese), while Eleftheria Kaali Miri (Belper Knolle Style) secured a Silver.

The Prime Minister also congratulated cheesemakers Mausam Narang and Thenlay Nurboo for their contribution to the achievement.

Modi said such global recognition not only showcases the quality and diversity of Indian cheese but also strengthens the country’s position in the international artisanal dairy market.
