Mumbai turns blue for diabetes awareness

S.L. Raheja Hospital Launches ‘Diabetes Ko Blue Banayein’ Campaign Across Mumbai
In a large-scale public health initiative, S.L. Raheja Hospital has launched ‘Diabetes Ko Blue Banayein’, a multi-touchpoint diabetes awareness campaign aimed at mobilising Mumbai and encouraging early detection and healthier living.
As part of the initiative, the hospital conducted comprehensive screening drives across 50 locations in the city, helping screen nearly 5,000 Mumbaikars for diabetes and related risks. The outreach effort also included the distribution of 15,000 diabetes-friendly diet booklets through the Mumbai Dabbawala Association, empowering citizens with practical dietary guidance.
Adding visual impact to the awareness movement, prominent city landmarks were illuminated in blue—the global colour for diabetes awareness—while citizens and healthcare workers participated in a citywide ‘wear-blue’ drive.
The campaign underscores the growing need for regular screenings and lifestyle awareness, especially as diabetes cases continue to rise across urban India. S.L. Raheja Hospital aims to expand its community-focused programmes to ensure early intervention and better disease management for Mumbai’s residents.
